Improving Your Heads

Your Heads you choose for your engine are very important to your new engine.If your heads already have
the oversized vales installed, then one thing to improve the flow of the head is to Semi Hemi cut them. This
gives the Heads better breathing. I took these heads over to Air Cooled Parts.com and had David O Semi
Hemi cut them to allow better breathing around the valves and to lower the compression of the heads. This
will make them run stronger and cooler. If you have never had this kind of head, you don't know how much
it helps.

As you can see in the picture at the left, there is a lot of
valve in those heads. This should reallly let those heads
breath. You can also see that they are cut for 94 pistons. I
know these came this way as far as the piston cut but
David O and can also cut old heads to increase your
piston size. His most popular one is 90 mill setting. He has
been doing this for years and years. Again , go with
someone who knows what he is doing. Here in Dallas, I
ONLY use David O at Air Cooled Parts.com and Doug at
Quailitat. You can not get better than that.

The picture at the right was taken at David O's
business. As you can see, Dave has the right
tools to do this job. The head is held by a custom
calibrated jig to hold the heads right where they
need to be to insure a perfect cut. He does not
just bolt up a head to the cutter and go, He sets it
up right in a jig and takes his time to insure the
cut is the same for each cylinder.

The picture at the left shows just how neat and
careful the job has been done. They have already
been CCd to make sure they are exact. I am sure
these heads are going to do just what I want them to
do. The cuts are neat and clean and these heads are
ready to go.
