My Favorite Old School Buggy! |
My Favorite Old School Buggy was one of the first metal frame Buggy. It was the Brainchild of "Tiny Thompson" and show not only strength but all around fun in the out doors! They also ran alot of the original off road races in the early sixties. They are very durable. |
These nimble little "Burros" even ran the Baja 1000! Having a lot of ground clearance which proved very useful in off road trips. The engine cage provided plenty of protection against the out doors. In the picture, the right, shows the most familiar set up. They lacked fenders and metal covers. Most people installed the metal sides so the little Burro was at home on te street and the off roads. Others like the pictures below received not only metal skins but also included fenders to provide even better protection to the driver and passenger. One could get as creative as you wanted with these little basic buggies. Dune Buggies and Hot VW's magizine even had one that had a deck on the back for photo work for the mag! |
As you can see in the following pictures, This is one really fine example of what could be done with the "Burro". This one is set up fun on the street as well as being able to take on the out back! This is really one fine little Buggy. |
